Shintora Street is the main street that connect the main stadium to the athletes' village in Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics 2020. TABISURU Market's Summer and Autumn term starts July 3rd. This exhibition will introduce the bizarre world of Mr.Ⓐ - also known as "Black Fujiko" for his creation of some of Japan's most darkly humorous manga, depicting in myriad genres all the travails of the human heart - along with his "Weird and Amazing Collection."

Recent decades have seen a stream of catastrophes around the world - from 9.11 in 2001 to the global financial crisis of 2008, Japan's devastating quake and tsunami in 2011, and the list goes on. Catastrophe and crisis can drive us to despair, yet it is also true that the energy released as we try to recover can simultaneously spark imagination, and boost creative output. This exhibition will look at how art deals with the major catastrophes that strike communities, as well as personal tragedies, and the role art can play in our recovery.

In 1925, Soetsu Yanagi first named handicrafts made by anonymous craftspeople "MINGEI," as he recognized the beauty in these everyday items used by common people. The exhibition will feature over 150 traditional and contemporary MINGEI items primarily from the Japan Folk Crafts Museum's collection selected by Naoto Fukasawa, the Director of both 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT and the Museum.

Place: The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Crafts Gallery(1-1 Kitanomaru-koen, Chiyoda-ku)
Ingegerd Råman is one of Sweden's most renowned designers as well as a potter. This exhibition is the first major opportunity in Japan to introduce Råman's diverse activities including her recent project with Kimura Glass to designs for Ikea to collaboration projects with Swedish architects with about 180 works of tableware and interior goods selected by Råman, who regard herself as a "form-giver".

Shigaraki, Bizen, Iga, Shino, Oribe and Karatsu: these Momoyama tea utensils are known for one of the major Japanese ceramics. This exhibition presents artifacts excavated in Kyoto as well as tea utensils that have been handed down over the generations. Examining them in terms of production and istribution by the latest view of the world of Momoyama tea utensils.

Daiho'onji in Kyoto is an ancient temple more commonly known as Senbon Shakado. It was founded by the Buddhist monk, Giku, in the Kamakura period in 1220. This exhibition introduces numerous masterpieces of the Keiha school preserved at Daiho'onji temple. With works by Kaikei, who was a contemporary of Unkei, and master sculptors of the post-Unkei generation, the exhibition allows visitors to enjoy a contest between Kamakura-period sculptures.

This exhibiiton explores the meaning of Japanese art and the aesthetic values it embodies. It also proposes new ways of appreciating the beauty of Japanese art before modern eras, which was created within a society very different from that of the West, by contrasting it with the achievements of the French-American artist Marcel Duchamp, who challenged the values of Western art much later.

Washoku, the traditional dietary culture of the Japanese, was recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The roots of that Washoku culture line in the Edo period. During two and a half centuries of peace, agriculture and fishing made great strides, the economy grew and became more complex, and, thanks to socio-economic advancement, people achieved a level of affluence that enabled them to enjoy dining as a source of pleasure. This exhibition focuses on Hokusai's lively depictions of foods created in Edo.

Higashiyama Kaii is nationally renowned as a Nihon-ga painter representing the postwar era. This exhibition marks the first large-scale retrospective of Higashiyama's career in Tokyo in a decade. Boasting a large collection of important Higashiyama works, the exhibition also includes a special showing of the monumental Toshodaiji Miei-do Murals.

Hyper-realism? A word too simple to describe his works. The drawing of wire netting that stretches over 17 meters. The 365 self-portraits he drew every day for a year. The newspapers he copied, letter by letter. All of the works created by Yoshimura Yoshio are super-real, but also exude an unsettling strangeness that strikes the observer. This exhibition is the first retrospective to be held in Tokyo. It provides a comprehensive view of Yoshimura with more than 600 items on display, including monotone prints and drawings from his early period, colorful flowers from his late period, and self-portraits which he drew throughout the course of his life.

The Yoshiwara flourished as a prominent pleasure quarter. The highest-ranking courtesans, called Oiran, were the top of the hierarchy of the Yoshiwara. This exhibition features Oiran's fashion and their daily lives in the Yoshiwara. Through the works of ukiyo-e, visitors can experience the charm of the courtesans, who had a unique presence in Edo culture.

Peter Paul Rubens was one of the preeminent representatives of Baroque art flourished in Europe during the 17th century. This exhibition focuses on Rubens' relationship with Italy, where ancient and Renaissance art once thrived. Along with Rubens' own paintings, this exhibition presents ancient sculptures, and works by Italian artists from the 16th century and the Baroque era.

Lee Kit creates works that constantly explore the expressive potential of painting. These include a series of hand-painted cloth paintings that he created early in his career. For each of his exhibitions held till now, he has quietly insinuated himself into the atmosphere and feeling of the city and place where it is held to create works that are extremely site-specific and that resonate with the people who see them. This is the first exhibition to be held at a Japanese museum.

Pierre Bonnard was an artist who worked in France from the late 19th to the mid-20th century. While a member of the Nabis, he was influenced by ukiyo-e to create lively and decorative works that earned him the nickname "The very japonard Nabi ." This large-scale Bonnard retrospective exhibition is composed of works from collections in Japan and abroad, most notably the extensive Bonnard collection of the Musée d’Orsay. Through works from many genres―paintings, sketches, prints, and photographs―the show explores the charm of the enigmatic Pierre Bonnard.

This exhibition focuses, on an unprecedented scale, on the period from the 1960s to the 1990s, the dawning of contemporary art in Asian countries. It gathers together 140 provocative, experimental works produced in the turbulent period from more than ten regions and countries, and examines the similarities and differences between them.

Place: Tokyo Midtown
Tokyo Midtown's annual Christmas celebration starts with the 510,000 LED illumination lights covering whole area of Tokyo Midtown. Main event is the "Starlight Garden" which is held at Garden area and a 100 ballons and soap bubbles' performance will be added from this year. Illumination tour which takes you to the best spot of the illumination view and Santa Tree with 1800 Santa Claus ornaments also will be the fun part of the event.
